Ishwar Gaykar faced the difficult decision of dumping a large quantity of tomatoes in May due to low prices, but his hard work paid off as tomato prices skyrocketed. Gaykar sold 18,000 crates of tomatoes and aims to earn another Rs 50 lakh ($67,500) by selling the remaining produce. The total input cost of cultivation, including transportation, was Rs 40 lakh ($54,000). Other farmers in the area have also benefited from the high tomato prices.
