Rebels vow to protect Chinese investment in Myanmar

Three Ethnic Armies in northern Myanmar, the Kokant Myanmar National Democratic Alliance Army (MNDAA), Ta'ang National Liberation Army (TNLA), and Rakhine Arakan Army (AA), have issued a joint statement vowing to protect international investment in their regions, particularly Chinese-led projects. The statement aims to counter the rise of extortion and terrorist crimes since the military coup in Myanmar. Observers suggest that the ethnic armies were pressured by Beijing to make the statement due to China's expanding influence in Myanmar and concerns about the impact on Chinese investments. The number of clashes between the military and ethnic armies in regions with Chinese-led investments has significantly decreased.
