Iraq honey production at the mercy of heat and drought

Drought and rising temperatures are negatively impacting Honey Production in the central Iraqi province of Babylon. The lack of water and flowering plants is affecting the bees' ability to forage for pollen and nectar, ultimately reducing honey production. Bees are being forced to travel longer distances to find food, impacting their lifespan. Some beekeepers have relocated their hives to cooler and greener areas in the northern autonomous Kurdistan region. Despite the challenges, honey production in Iraq is increasing, with a study being conducted to improve yields by moving hives between different regions.
