Senegalese prosecutors have issued an international Arrest Warrant for French lawyer Juan Branco, who represents Senegal's main opposition leader Ousmane Sonko. Branco is wanted for alleged crimes and offences related to the unrest in Senegal in June. Sonko expressed his support for Branco, who is also facing a separate lawsuit in France. The French Foreign Ministry reported Branco to judicial authorities after he revealed the identities of two French embassy employees in Senegal. Branco had filed a criminal complaint against the Senegalese president for alleged crimes against humanity, including deadly protests in 2021 and June.
