Egypt president announces steps to end conflict in Sudan

Leaders from Sudan's neighboring countries met in Cairo, Egypt, for peace talks to end the conflict in Sudan. The meeting was attended by the leaders of Ethiopia, South Sudan, Chad, Eritrea, the Central African Republic, and Libya. Egypt's President, Abdel Fattah el-Sissi, expressed concern about the deteriorating humanitarian situation in Sudan and called for international leaders to provide necessary assistance. An agreement was reached to form a ministerial mechanism to address the crisis, stop the fighting, and reach a comprehensive solution through direct communication with Sudanese parties. The conflict in Sudan began in April between the military and the Rapid Support Forces.
