Philippines allows ‘Barbie’ movie to be screened, calls China map ‘cartoonish’

The Philippines has allowed the release of the "Barbie" movie despite calls to ban it due to a controversial map of China's "nine-dash line." The country's film review board deemed the map to be "cartoonish" and stated that it did not depict the controversial map feature used by China to assert its claims in the South China Sea. The board has requested Warner Bros. to blur the lines to avoid further misinterpretations. Vietnam had previously banned the film for featuring the "nine-dash line." The Philippines warned that it would sanction or ban films that exhibit the line.
