Search for children’s remains resumes at former Native American boarding school in Nebraska

Archaeologists have resumed digging at the former site of the Genoa Indian Industrial School in Nebraska, searching for the remains of children who died there years ago. The search gained renewed interest after the discovery of hundreds of children's remains at other Native American Boarding school sites. The team has not found human remains yet, but the dig is expected to continue throughout the week. The school was part of a national system of Native American boarding schools that aimed to assimilate Indigenous people into white culture, and at least 86 students are known to have died at the Genoa school.
