Contractor to Be Blacklisted in Case of Fatal Accidents: Delhi’s New Safety Guidelines for Construction Sites

The Delhi government has issued new Safety Guidelines for Construction Sites following two deaths at Public Works Department (PWD) construction sites. The guidelines state that a contractor will be blacklisted in the event of a fatal accident, with administrative action also taken against officials. Failure to clear construction and demolition waste will result in a levy of Rs 5 lakh compensation on the contractor. The guidelines also require proper barricading, no waterlogging, and the presence of safety engineers on site for works costing more than Rs 1 crore.
