Migrant centre branded ‘inhumane’ over remote location and poor mobile signal

The IMB also highlighted the lack of amenities such as a hair salon, shop, cultural kitchen, and limited GP visits. The facility, which is women-only, is a long drive from the southeast, potentially leaving migrants tired and stressed. The IMB recommended that the Home Office reconsider the suitability of the center, despite acknowledging its good accommodation. The facility is run by private firm Mitie at a cost of £100,000 per detainee per year.
