Haiti Marks 2nd Anniversary of Moise’s Assassination 

Haitian Prime Minister Ariel Henry commemorated the second anniversary of President Jovenel Moise's assassination in a solemn ceremony in Port-au-Prince. Moise was killed by armed gunmen in July 2021, and 40 arrests have been made in connection with the case. One of the accused, Haitian businessman Rodolphe Jaar, pleaded guilty and was sentenced to life in prison. Supporters of the slain president took to the streets to demand justice and called for the resignation of Prime Minister Ariel Henry. Activities were also held in the northern region of Haiti, where Moise was buried.
