Multinational Force Needed to Help Haiti’s National Police, Blinken Says

U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken has stated that a multinational force is necessary to help restore order in Haiti, following appeals by UN officials who warn that the country's insecurity is worsening. Blinken made the comments during a trip to Trinidad and Tobago, where a conference was held by the Caribbean trade bloc known as Caricom. Caribbean leaders have been meeting regularly to discuss the situation in Haiti, with Caricom Chairman Roosevelt Skerrit calling on the U.S. for help. Blinken also pledged financial support to small farmers in the Caribbean and expressed concerns about climate change in the region.
