New Tallest Tree in Asia–a 335-Foot Cypress Shows There’s Plenty Left in the World to Discover

Researchers at Peking University have discovered the tallest Tree in Asia, a Himalayan cypress measuring 335 feet (102.3 meters) in height. The tree was found in Yarlung Zangbo Grand Canyon Nature Reserve in Tibet. Using LiDAR drone technology, the researchers were able to locate the giant cypress among other tall trees in the area. The scientists emphasize the importance of giant trees in forest ecosystems, as they contain knowledge necessary for survival in harsh conditions and provide habitats for various species. The researchers plan to closely monitor and protect these trees in the future.
