Russian President Vladimir Putin's spokesman, Dmitry Peskov, has hinted at "contacts in progress" between Russia and the US regarding a Potential Prisoner Swap. The US is seeking the release of Wall Street Journal reporter Evan Gershkovich and Paul Whelan, both of whom are considered "wrongfully detained" and have denied espionage charges. Peskov stated that the contacts must be maintained in complete silence. This comes after the US ambassador was allowed to visit Gershkovich in prison for the first time since April. The US has accused Russia of being unwilling to discuss Gershkovich's potential release until after a conviction.
