First Person: A Thai police trainer’s ‘passion’ for fighting the SE Asia drug trade

A Police trainer in Thailand, Lt. Colonel Amonrat Wathanakhosit, has spoken about her passion for teaching police cadets how to combat Drug trafficking in Southeast Asia. The trainee officers are part of a network of law enforcement specialists in Thailand and across the region, working together to stop trafficking by international crime syndicates. The officers are trained to stop and search vehicles to intercept drugs, and UNODC has supported the training program. Wathanakhosit hopes to expand the collaboration to train officers from neighboring Myanmar and Laos to strengthen joint operations against drug manufacturing and trafficking.
