Two years in, the RCMP’s independent process for harassment complaints is plagued by delays

The RCMP's Independent body for handling sexual assault and Harassment Complaints, the Independent Centre for Harassment Resolution (ICHR), has been plagued by long delays, according to some of the individuals who have used it. The ICHR was created in 2021 following a sexual abuse scandal within the RCMP. Despite promises of a fairer process, delays in assigning investigators and reaching decisions have frustrated complainants. The RCMP has acknowledged the challenges and is working to address them. The delays have raised concerns about fairness and the well-being of employees involved. RCMP reform is a priority for Public Safety Minister Marco Mendicino.
