Dutch startup Reefy has created concrete brick structures that act as a seawall and provide a habitat for marine life. The bricks, which resemble giant Lego blocks, are designed to enhance biodiversity and withstand the powerful waves and storms that cause offshore erosion. The structures feature holes that allow waves to pass through and enable sea creatures to make their homes inside. The outside of the bricks is made from low-carbon concrete textured to encourage the growth of oysters and mussels. The company's technology analyzes wave force and angle to determine the optimal pattern for reducing wave energy.
