The Indian Air Force (IAF) is set to receive deliveries of the Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) Tejas MK-1A from February 2024. The new variant of the indigenous jet will have updated avionics, an active electronically steered radar, an updated electronic warfare suite, and beyond visual range missile capability. The IAF has ordered 83 Tejas MK-1A jets in a deal worth Rs 48,000 crore. The Tejas has garnered interest from several countries, including Egypt, Argentina, the US, Australia, Indonesia, Malaysia, and the Philippines. The Tejas has been designed for air defense, maritime reconnaissance, and strike roles.
