6.5 tonnes of cocaine found hidden in bananas in Spain

A criminal network involved in shipping Cocaine from South America to Europe has been dismantled in Spain. Europol supported the investigation, which led to the seizure of 6.5 tonnes of cocaine hidden between bananas in Spain and Columbia. Thirteen people were arrested, and €223 million worth of the drug was intercepted. The leader of the network, considered one of Spain's biggest drug traffickers, was based in Malaga and used a wholesale frozen fish company as a front to launder illicit assets. Several individual cocaine shipments were seized in previous months, leading to this successful operation.
