Amarnath Yatra 2023: Drones, Dog Squads & Troops Deployed As 62-day Annual Pilgrimage Begins | Details Here

The Amarnath Yatra, a 62-day annual pilgrimage to the holy cave shrine of Amarnath in south Kashmir, has begun with the first batch of over 3,400 pilgrims embarking on their journey. This year's yatra is the longest-ever, lasting until August 31, and is expected to see over 600,000 pilgrims. Security measures have been heightened, with drones, dog squads, and troops deployed along the pilgrimage routes. The terrain is treacherous, and accidents are common, so mountain warfare-trained personnel of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) have replaced the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) for security at the shrine.
