US Chipmaker Micron Technology has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Indian government to construct its first semiconductor plant in the country. The agreement, signed in Gandhinagar, Gujarat, marks a significant milestone and has an investment of $2.75 billion. The Facility will be located in Sanand, near Ahmedabad, and the MoU was signed less than a week after Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Washington, where several agreements were made with the US in the field of technology. Micron will invest up to $825 million in the facility with support from the Indian central government and the state of Gujarat.
