Burkina: at least 34 soldiers and army auxiliaries killed in an attack

At least 31 soldiers and three Army Auxiliaries were killed in an attack by suspected jihadists in northern Burkina Faso. The attack targeted a supply convoy returning from Djibo, a town besieged by jihadists. The fighting was described as particularly violent, resulting in significant casualties. Another attack in the same region left dozens dead, mostly volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland (VDP). Burkina Faso has been plagued by jihadist violence since 2015, with over 10,000 civilian and military deaths and over two million internally displaced. The country is currently under the rule of a military junta following a coup last year.
