Fighting still rages on in Sudan as thousands flee

Fighting continues in Darfur, Sudan between the army led by General Abdel Fattah al-Burhane and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) of General Mohamed Hamdane Daglo, leaving over 2,800 people dead since April 15. At least 12 civilians were killed on Sunday in the capital of South Darfur, while El-Geneina, the capital of West Darfur has seen 1,100 deaths and abuses that could constitute “crimes against humanity”. Over 2.5 million people are displaced and refugees, with nearly 160,000 fleeing to neighboring Chad. The UN and humanitarian organizations are struggling to help those affected, with limited funds and bureaucratic obstacles.
