Junior doctors to go on longest single strike in NHS history

Junior doctors in the UK will undertake the longest-ever Strike in the history of the National Health Service (NHS) with a five-day walkout between 13 and 18 July. The British Medical Association is calling for a 35% pay rise for Junior Doctors to compensate for 15 years of real-term salary cuts. The NHS has suffered from more than 645,000 affected appointments and operations in England due to recent strikes. Consultants are expected to strike on 20 and 21 July if their ballot is successful and there is no “credible pay offer” from the government.
