“Titanic” director James Cameron on “terrible irony” of Titan tragedy

The US Coast Guard is continuing its investigation into the cause of the implosion of the OceanGate Titan submersible, which was visiting the wreckage of the Titanic. All five people aboard the Titan are presumed dead, and it is unclear if their bodies will be recovered. James Cameron, who directed the film Titanic, has criticised OceanGate for not being certified and for ignoring warnings about the submersible. Cameron has been to the Titanic wreckage site more than 30 times and said the Titan’s sinking was a "terrible irony" given the warnings that were ignored.
