Music students from the University of South Carolina have partnered with incarcerated new mothers to create original lullabies for their children. The Lullaby Project aims to promote family intimacy regardless of the distances separating mothers and babies. The project is supported by Carnegie Hall and its Weill Music Institute. USC Assistant Professor of Voice, Serena LaRoche, said: "We all come from different backgrounds ... and how a song can be born out of that—how it can create a real musical moment that can connect on a very personal level to her, but really to all of us.”
