Blinken says he failed to revive military-to-military talks with China

US Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, has said he was unable to revive military-to-military talks with China despite hopes of reopening the communication channel. Blinken's meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping and other high-level officials marked a resumption of US-China government meetings after a tense four-plus months. The US has been pushing for direct communication between the two countries' militaries, but China has declined to move forward with this at the moment. There have been recent incidents in the air and on the seas between the US and China, including the alleged sighting of a Chinese spy balloon over US airspace in February.
