Closing the coal ash loophole

Coal ash, a toxic waste product generated from burning Coal to produce electricity, has contaminated water and air at more than 1,000 sites across the United States. It contains at least 17 dangerous heavy and radioactive metals, such as arsenic, chromium, and mercury, causing serious health issues such as birth defects, heart, lung, and neurological diseases, and various cancers. Since the Tennessee spill in 2008, over 50 workers have died, and more than 150 have fallen sick. The EPA released a law regulating Coal Ash in 2015, but only covered half the coal ash in the US.
