Former UK Prime Minister David Cameron has admitted that his government made a mistake by prioritising preparing for a flu pandemic over other types of viruses in the lead up to the Covid-19 pandemic. Cameron, who was Prime Minister from 2010 to 2016, was the first former leader to be questioned by the Covid Inquiry. He also admitted to failures to follow through on findings from an Exercise Alice modelling operation in response to the Mers virus outbreak in February 2016. Cameron dismissed claims that austerity contributed to pandemic failings.
