At least 41 people, mostly students, were killed in an attack on a school in western Uganda by militants linked to the Islamic State group. Six people were also abducted in the raid, which occurred near the border with the Democratic Republic of Congo. The Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF) is pursuing the attackers, who are believed to be from the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF). The ADF has been accused of killing thousands of civilians in DR Congo since the 1990s. The UN Secretary-General and France have both condemned the attack.
