Brazil Is Cracking Down On The Trade Of Precious Metals From Illegal Miners In The Amazon

Brazilian authorities are cracking down on Illegal gold mining in the Amazon rainforest, with almost 50% of Brazil's export revenue attributed to the illegal activity. The Environment of the Amazon division within federal policy has evicted miners from the Yanomami Reserve, dismantled 250 mining camps, confiscated 70 boats and seized 48 planes and helicopters used for smuggling gold out of the reserve. Advanced techniques such as radioisotope technology will allow the police force to track and target gold even after it has been melted down, to prevent it from being traded on the market easily.
