US to Extend Deportation Relief for More Than 300,000 Migrants

The Biden administration will extend the Temporary Protected Status program through 2025 for over 300,000 immigrants from El Salvador, Honduras, Nepal, and Nicaragua who faced the risk of Deportation and job loss under Trump administration policies. The program provides legal status and protection from deportation for up to 18 months, as well as work permits for legal employment in the US. The Trump administration had sought to terminate most TPS programs, but federal courts halted their attempts. Existing TPS beneficiaries from the four countries will be able to re-register for the extension and renewal of their work permits.
