The Jammu and Kashmir government is preparing to host a huge influx of tourists and devotees for the annual Amarnath Yatra pilgrimage, with over 8-9 Lakh Pilgrims Expected over the 62-day event. The Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Vijay Kumar Bidhuri has said that camps have been increased and that an additional 7,000 Yatris can stay in them. Security remains a key issue following a terrorist attack in 2017 that killed eight Hindu pilgrims. To limit the environmental impact in the Himalayan mountains, waste management will be ensured and there will be more CCTV cameras to cover the entire track.
