Public Safety Minister Marco Mendicino has ordered temporary funding for three Indigenous Police Services in Ontario that have been without funding for over two months due to stalled negotiations for a new agreement. The police services in question are the Treaty Three Police Service, UCCM Anishnaabe Police Service, and Anishinabek Police Service, which represent 45 First Nation communities and around 30,000 people across northern Ontario. The police services have been at an impasse with the funding body due to terms and conditions that they say restrict their ability to serve their communities.
