Myanmar's junta has reportedly met with Aung San Suu Kyi, the jailed head of the deposed National League for Democracy, at least twice to seek her help in peace negotiations with Armed Resistance Groups, but she rebuffed their requests. Suu Kyi was visited on May 27 and June 4 by three military officers, but the meetings have not been officially confirmed by the junta. Suu Kyi's supporters say the charges against her are politically motivated. Myanmar has been embroiled in conflict with armed resistance groups and ethnic armed organizations since the military coup on Feb. 1, 2021.
