NHS cancer checks double in decade thanks to local diagnostic centres

The number of people receiving Cancer Checks in England has doubled in a decade, with 114,108 more people checked for signs of the disease this year than the same month a decade ago, according to NHS England. Efforts to encourage people to come forward for checks and advances in treatments and technologies have been attributed to the rise in cancer survival rates. NHS England is investing £2.3bn in expanding diagnostics services and £1.5bn in treatment to meet increasing demand. The NHS Long Term Plan aims to see 55,000 more people each year surviving their cancer for five years or more by 2028.
