Dancing or Brisk Walks can reduce the risk of diabetes by 74%, according to a study by the University of Sydney. Those who undertook more than an hour of moderate-to-vigorous exercise each day were 74% less likely to develop the condition than sedentary people. This reduction also applied to predisposed individuals, whose genetic susceptibility was reduced more than that of inactive people without a genetic risk. The study, which monitored 59,325 UK Biobank respondents for up to seven years, is the first to demonstrate that genetic risk associated with unhealthy lifestyles can be counteracted by exercise.
