A unit of 60 Tanzanian Peacekeepers is to be repatriated from the Central African Republic after allegations of sexual exploitation and abuse. The UN identified four victims, and credible evidence was found against 11 members of the unit. The Tanzanian authorities have been notified and national investigation officers have been deployed to the Central African Republic. This follows UN chief António Guterres' announcement of a policy of 'zero tolerance' towards sexual abuse by UN personnel in 2017. Since 2015, there have been 254 accusations of sexual exploitation and abuse targeting members of the UN's Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in the Central African Republic.
