Wing, the Drone Delivery company owned by Alphabet, has developed a fully passive system for drone delivery that can be attached to curbside pickup signs. Dubbed the AutoLoader, the system allows drones to pick up a package from a designated spot without the need for an employee to be present for the handoff. Wing plans to roll out the AutoLoader in parts of its operation by the end of 2021, with a full delivery network based on the technology expected to be available by mid-2022. The company has delivered over 340,000 packages via drones to date.
