Life on the margins: The fate of internally displaced Ukrainian children

More than 3.5 million Children in Ukraine are estimated to have "severe to catastrophic levels of needs" due to internal displacement caused by Russia's invasion, according to the United Nations. Around 75% of parents have reported that their children have symptoms of psychological trauma, including impaired memories, shorter attention spans, and a decreased ability to learn. NGOs Save the Children and UNICEF are working to tackle these challenges through initiatives such as the creation of child-friendly spaces and digital learning centres. However, many organisations depend on private donations and may face funding challenges in the future.
