Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton has been recommended for impeachment by a Republican-led House investigative committee after years of scandal, criminal charges, and corruption accusations. Paxton has been under FBI investigation since 2015 on securities fraud charges and has been accused of using his office to help a donor. If the House impeaches Paxton, he would be forced to leave office immediately. Only two officials in Texas' nearly 200-year history have been impeached. Republican Governor Greg Abbott could appoint an interim replacement.
