Religious figures, climate activists stage Paris protest against Total projects in Africa

Activists and Religious Figures protested against TotalEnergies' $10 billion East African Crude Oil Pipeline (EACOP) project in Uganda and Tanzania, claiming it will harm biodiversity and displace over 100,000 people without adequate compensation. Around 40 protestors chained themselves to a footbridge over the Seine in Paris, blocking the way for 1,443 seconds, in reference to the 1,443 km pipeline that they are contesting. The protest took place on the eve of TotalEnergies' annual general meeting of shareholders.
