Energy giant Energy Transfer collaborated with private security firm TigerSwan and Law Enforcement to shape public perception of the Indigenous-led Standing Rock environmental movement, according to documents obtained by news site The Intercept and environmental news source Grist. The documents show that the National Sheriffs’ Association and TigerSwan, which has links to the US military’s special forces, collaborated on a propaganda campaign against the campaign, and that TigerSwan provided law enforcement support during the protests. The security firm also purchased radios and less-lethal weapons for law enforcement, and sought to share evidence of protestor activity with Energy Transfer and police.
