Households will absorb cost of water companies’ sewage-spill prevention, Therese Coffey concedes

The Environment Secretary, Therese Coffey, has conceded that "a lot" of Private Sector Investment in the water industry "gets repaid through bills." This investment includes £10 billion of industry investment to reduce the number of sewage discharges into rivers and seas. This plan will be paid for by higher bills for customers, with private sector investment repaid through penalties and fines.
