WTO chief pushes for reglobalized supply chains to cut down bottleneck risks

The WTO Director-General, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, urges diversification in global Supply Chains, amid ongoing efforts to progress the body's reform. She argues that this will re-spur growth in countries and the world, and that the focus on "reglobalization" comes as geopolitical tensions and recent U.S. legislation have stoked worries over the potential fragmentation of global trade. The Appellate Body of the WTO is effectively paralyzed following the U.S. blockage of adjudicator appointments, but Okonjo-Iweala says that Washington and other countries are engaged in dialogue to overhaul the system.
