Mountain rescue called over dog that refused to walk back down Scafell Pike

A 33-kilogram dog was too tired to walk down Scafell Pike, England's highest peak, so a crew of thirteen volunteers was called in to carry it down. The dog, an Akita by the name of Rocky, was "injured and exhausted" with "cut paws" when Keswick Mountain Rescue Team were called to carry it down on Saturday. The team met Rocky and its owners at Grains Gill and the large dog was carried down the 3,209 ft (978m) mountain on a stretcher. In a statement posted on the rescue team's Facebook page, the team said that the owners had requested support whilst on a return walk to Langdale, having ascended Scafell Pike.
