Manuel Merillas of Spain won the Zegama-Aizkorri race in 3 hours and 42 minutes, while Moroccan El Houssine El Azzaoui came second. The race was very tough early on, with gusts of wind reaching 50km/h and temperatures at the summit below zero. Elazzoui had been chasing Merillas for a long time but he eventually took the upper hand in the final downhill. British Jonathan Albon came third. Kenyan Robert Pkemboi Matayango ended 5th. The Golden Trail World Series is now heading for Chamonix, where the Marathon du Mont-Blanc will be held.
