Turkey Elections: As rallies conclude, Erdogan defends Putin, slips in polls

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and main opposition leader Kemal Kilicdaroglu are concluding their campaigns ahead of the country's closest elections in modern history. The polls have shown Kilicdaroglu with a lead over Erdogan, but it is still unclear whether he will secure enough support (above 50% of the vote) to win the presidential election in the first round, avoiding a runoff. Earlier this week, an Istanbul prosecutor launched an investigation against a journalist for disseminating misleading information about an assassination team allegedly entering Turkey from Georgia to target Kilicdaroglu. Meanwhile, the Kremlin denied Kilicdaroglu's accusations that Russia was meddling in the elections.
