Two police officers stabbed, man shot dead in rural South Australia

Two Police officers have been stabbed and a man shot dead during a “high-risk” incident in Rural South Australia. The officers were attending a home on Symons Street in Crystal Brook, about 200km north of Adelaide, when they were allegedly attacked by the occupant. The man stabbed the two officers before he was shot by police and died at the scene. A police officer from nearby Port Germein was airlifted to the Royal Adelaide Hospital in a serious but stable condition. The second police officer, who is from Crystal Brook, was taken to Port Pirie Hospital to be airlifted to Royal Adelaide Hospital in a serious but stable condition. Police said the officers first attended the address to “make enquiries in relation to another matter”. SA Police Association president and chief executive Mark Carroll said one officer was in “a very bad way” after the attack. “It’s a tragedy for everybody,” Carroll said.
