Conservationist And Biologist Puts Together ‘Army Of Women’ To Save India’s Rarest Stork

There is a group of women working towards changing people's ideas and attitudes when it comes to animal conservation in Assam, India. They are wearing paper-mâché hats in the shape of the Greater Adjutant stork in order to make a point and show their support for this threatened bird. The Greater Adjutant was once reviled due to their incredibly bad smell, unattractive appearance, and carrion-filled diet, however more recently, they have become welcome member of communities that used to kill them. However, due to the work of one pioneering conservationist, the Greater Adjutant has managed to increase in population from a few nests to over 1,000 in Assam alone.
