The chairman of the African Union Commission, Moussa Faki Mahamat, is travelling to Sudan immediately to try and secure a ceasefire between the warring sides. The AU is also urging the warring parties to adopt a peaceful solution and to reject any outside interference, which could complicate the situation in Sudan. Fighting has continued for the second consecutive day and 56 civilians have been killed.
